September 11, 2001 It's one of those dates burned in our collective memory, a day that changed the lives of every person in every country.  It changed the way we in the US saw the world.  It forced us - all of us, no matter the country - to change the way we travel, the way we deal with one another. It's been 16 years now, & the worst of the memories have faded.  But this day will always be a day of mourning for me.  Not just for the thousands murdered, but for the trust and innocence that died with them.  We lost our world that day.  All of us, everywhere.  That will always merit a moment of silence. Lo. some we loved, the loveliest and the best Whom time and Fate of all their vintage pressed Have drunk their cup a round or two before And one by one crept silently to rest. Omar Khayyam
